Almaty Power Plants JSC (APP) has completed preparations for the autumn–winter period and obtained all readiness certificates for the upcoming 2025–2026 heating season.

Preparations were carried out across all production departments of APP JSC, including:

Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Energy JSC, Kairat Maxutov, held a meeting with the management of Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan JSC, led by Chairperson of the Management Board, Umut Shayakhmetova.

The discussions focused on the dynamic development of Kazakhstan’s energy sector and the role of Samruk-Energy in advancing its large-scale investment program.

“Halyk Bank has historically been one of the key financial partners of Samruk-Energy Group. Today, given the company’s significant growth and promising outlook, the continued development of a sustainable and mutually beneficial partnership is of particular importance”, - noted Kairat Maxutov.

Maxutov also invited Halyk Bank to take an active role in supporting Samruk-Energy’s investment initiatives — including major renewable energy projects implemented with leading international partners, as well as programs for the modernization and expansion of existing generation capacity.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to maintain close cooperation across key ongoing areas.

As part of a working trip to Almaty, Chairman of the Management Board Kairat Maxutov visited the construction sites of the CHP-2 modernization project and the CHP-3 reconstruction project.

At the CHP-2 site, the management of APP JSC reported on the progress of construction works and installation of main equipment. The first gas turbine and generator have already been installed, while the foundations for the second and third gas turbines with generators are ready for equipment installation.

Delivery of Siemens-manufactured gas turbines and generators is expected in October 2025 and January 2026, respectively. Delivery of the steam turbine and hot-water boilers is scheduled for Q3 2025 and Q1 2026.

Following the meeting at CHP-2, Kairat Maxutov instructed to ensure that all works are carried out in line with the schedule to commission the facility in September 2026.

At the Almaty CHP-3 reconstruction site, a report was presented by the EPC contractor. It was noted that works are underway to install the first set of the gas turbine and generator in November 2025. It was also reported that the second set of equipment successfully passed testing at Ansaldo Energia’s manufacturing facilities and will be loaded onto a vessel by September 20, 2025, for delivery to the construction site.

Additionally, it was reported that, given the increase in workforce and equipment on site, foundation pouring works will be completed this year, followed by the construction of buildings and structures.

This year, works are also scheduled to reroute 110–220 kV power grids to enable installation of the second set of main equipment.

Following the inspection of CHP-3, specific instructions were given to ensure timely delivery of equipment to the construction site in order to commission the facility by the end of 2026.
