The project implementation goal: Expansion of  Almaty CHP-1 with the construction of 200-250 MW CCGT unit to ensure the reliability of heat and electricity supply to Almaty city.

The project description: To provide consumers of Almaty city and Almaty region with a reliable and uninterrupted supply of electricity and heat in accordance with load schedules and temperature conditions, it is planned to increase the capacity from 145 MW to 200-250 MW. The final capacity and cost of the Project will be determined after considering the results of the feasibility study.

Implementation period: 2021-2024

Status: Public hearings on the results of the Preliminary Environmental Impact Assessment as part of the Project’s FS were held as open meeting on February 22, 2022. Currently, the work on the development of the project’s feasibility study. The development of the FS is scheduled to be completed in June 2022.

To ensure the completion of the construction of a new plant at the ACHP-1 site in December 2024, “APP” JSC plans to conclude an EPC contract. The conclusion of the EPC contract is planned to be concluded on the basis of an open international two-stage tender by holding a reversed auction.
