Head of Samruk-Energy speaks at roundtable of KAZENERGY XVI Eurasian Forum

As part of the KAZAKHSTAN ENERGY WEEK 2025 / XVI Eurasian Forum of KAZENERGY, a roundtable discussion was held on the topic Investments in Central Asia’s energy infrastructure”. One of the key speakers was Kairat Maxutov, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Energy joint-stock company.

In his address, Mr. Maxutov highlighted the company’s significance in Kazakhstan’s energy sector and outlined the modernization of existing assets along with a number of promising projects, including those in the field of renewable energy sources, whose share in the company’s portfolio continues to grow.

“Today, our company accounts for 34% of the country’s power generation and 42% of coal production. At the same time, a significant part of our assets has been in operation for 40–50 years, and we fully recognize the importance of their modernization, first and foremost to reduce environmental impact”,-  noted Kairat Maxutov.

He also informed participants about plans to build new generating facilities, to develop digital solutions, and to introduce artificial intelligence technologies at energy sites. Among these initiatives are predictive analytics tools, including those for forecasting emergency situations and renewable energy output.

Furthermore, the company is placing strong emphasis on advancing research and development, with plans to establish its own analytical center. This will become an important step toward strengthening technological independence and building in-house expertise in the energy sector.
