As part of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to Japan and his participation in the Central Asia–Japan Forum, representatives of Samruk-Energy JSC held a series of bilateral meetings with leading Japanese companies in the energy and industrial sectors.
A meeting was held with JERA Co., Inc. (Japan’s Energy for a New Era), during which the parties discussed potential areas of cooperation, including investment opportunities, the application of advanced Japanese technologies in the modernization and reconstruction of existing power generation facilities, as well as the exchange of experience in the use of digitalization and artificial intelligence solutions in the electric power sector.
The parties noted their mutual interest in developing a long-term partnership, including cooperation aimed at improving the efficiency and reliability of energy assets, implementing modern solutions in operations and maintenance, and advancing projects focused on the sustainable development of the energy industry.
In addition, a meeting was held with Mitsui & Company, Ltd., during which Mitsui’s plans to expand its activities in the Republic of Kazakhstan were discussed. The Japanese side noted that the company operates two representative offices in Almaty and Astana, supplies equipment, and participates in the implementation of infrastructure projects.
Following the meetings, the parties agreed to hold an in-person meeting in Astana to further discuss potential areas of cooperation, including investment cooperation, the application of advanced technological solutions at thermal power plants, and the development and implementation of artificial intelligence tools at Samruk-Energy facilities.
