Meeting with the Akimat of Zhambyl region on the implementation of a 1 GW Wind Power Project in partnership with Masdar

Kairat Maxutov, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Energy, Erbol Karashukeyev, Mayor of Zhambyl region, and Turar Baisarinov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of KIDF, held a meeting with Abdulla Zayed, Director of Development and Investment at Masdar.

During the meeting, the parties discussed key aspects of the implementation of the 1 GW wind power project in the Zhambyl region. The teams from Masdar and Samruk-Energy provided updates on project development activities, including wind monitoring, environmental impact assessment, conceptual design development, and the grid connection scheme.

The Mayor of Zhambyl region acknowledged the strategic importance of the project for the region and confirmed the administration’s readiness to provide full support, including timely resolution of land allocation issues for the construction of the wind farm and transmission lines.

Kairat Maxutov drew attention to an important milestone of the project: the ratification of the Intergovernmental Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United Arab Emirates, which was signed by the Head of State on May 12 of this year.

Abdulla Zayed thanked the participants and noted that work is currently underway to attract financing for the project. He also confirmed Masdar’s readiness to sign the EPC contract by the end of 2025.

Following the meeting, the project participants signed a roadmap for its implementation.
