At a government meeting, Chairman of the Management Board of Samruk-Energy, Kairat Maxutov, reported on the results of the 2024–2025 heating season and outlined plans for the upcoming period.
According to Samruk-Energy, the heating season was completed without any disruptions. All company power plants ensured stable heat supply to the regions. In Almaty region, heating was turned off on April 7; in Almaty city on April 10; and in Ekibastuz, on April 13. A significant achievement was the 3.5-fold reduction in fuel oil consumption at the Ekibastuz SDPP, made possible by emergency repairs and equipment upgrades.
“Samruk-Energy took over management of Ekibastuz SDPP under a trust arrangement in June 2024. Despite tight timelines, we successfully organized the required repair campaign, which ensured thorough preparation and uninterrupted operation during the heating season in Ekibastuz, with no deviations from temperature schedules”, - noted Kairat Maxutov.
He stated that Samruk-Energy’s funding volume in 2024 amounted to KZT 7 billion.
Meanwhile, total investments by Samruk-Energy in maintenance and preparation in 2024 reached KZT 114 billion. In 2025, the company plans to increase this figure to KZT 202.7 billion—almost twice the amount invested in 2023.
“This has been made possible thanks to the support of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan in securing fair tariff levels. While the effects of increased repair expenditures are long-term in nature, we are already observing a positive trend: the equipment availability factor has increased by 0.7 percentage points, the number of operational disturbances has decreased by 12%, and the level of equipment deterioration has been reduced by 3%. These figures reflect the quality and effectiveness of the repair work”, - the Chairman noted.
This year’s maintenance campaign will cover 105 units of equipment, including 10 power units and 31 hot-water boilers. At AZhC JSC, more than 2,300 km of transmission lines, 211 substations, and 745 transformers will be restored.
