"The Board of Directors of Ekibastuz GRES-2 decided to approve the further implementation of the project for the construction of power unit 3 at the station, "bakitzhan Zhulamanov, Chairman of the Board of Samruk-Energy JSC, said on Wednesday during a speech to the economic policy, innovation development and entrepreneurship Committee of the Senate.
According to him, in 2020, it is expected to complete the adjustment of the design and estimate documentation (POI) of the project for the expansion and reconstruction of Ekibastuz GRES-2.
"The construction of a new power unit at Ekibastuz GRES-2 will increase its installed capacity by 636 MW. In 2021, Samruk-Energo plans to apply to the market Council for an individual tariff for capacity starting in 2025, within the framework of the capacity market to ensure the project's payback," the report says.
Recall that in December 2019, JSC "Samruk-Kazyna" purchased 50% of the shares of the station from the Russian JSC "INTER RAO UES" and today the Fund on a parity basis owns JSC "Ekibastuzskaya GRES-2" Together with JSC "Samruk-Energy".
