(For reference: ČEZ Group (Czech: Skupina ČEZ České Energetické Závody) is a conglomerate of 96 companies (including ČEZ parent company), 72 of them are located in the Czech Republic. The core business is manufacture, distribution and sale of electricity and thermal energy, trade and sale of natural gas, and coal mining. The main goals of comprehensive modernization of power plants were improving the efficiency of electricity and heat production, elimination of deficiencies in employing initial technology of production units, reducing emissions of harmful substances and extending the life of power plants by 25 years.
The presentation was very interesting and practical. The team listened to every word of the speaker with undisguised interest and asked a lot of questions, as well as asked for his advices. After all, the manager who made a speech in front of us led the work on overcoming the old and already inefficient socialist heritage and setup of business processes on a new economic track during times of tight common European requirements.
Summing up the presentation, the following key points can be highlighted or one can say seasoned advice:
- Management support is extremely important
- Change management is an integral part of transformation project, a very large and sensitive process.
- A consultant should have both industry experience and a specific set of tools which he can demonstrate, and of course, in an ideal scenario, the project that completed positively with the calculated economic benefit from changing of management system.
