The construction of a 0,4 MW solar power plant (SPP) was completed in Almaty region. The plant is connected to “Alatau Zharyk Company” JSC grids and will soon start supplying electricity to the “Settlement and Financial Center for RES Support” LLP. “Samruk-Green Energy” LLP, a company in the structure of “Samruk-Energy”, Kazakhstani power holding company, implemented the project.
The construction of the plant commenced in May 2019. The project was implemented on the basis of the infrastructure of existing 2 MW solar power plant in Kapshagay city. We would like to remind that a 2 MW solar power plant was commissioned in December 2013 and at that time was the first industrial-scale solar power plant in Kazakhstan. A 2 MW SPP consists of 7995 photovoltaic modules manufactured in Europe. A special feature of the plant is the use of tracker (sun tracking) installations. A 2 MW SPP has generated 16 mln. kWh since its launch.
In order to support domestic commodity producers, photovoltaic modules based on Kazakhstan silicon, which was manufactured by Kazakhstani Company “Astana Solar” LLP, were used during the construction of the new plant.
1694 polycrystalline PV modules with a capacity of 245 W each were installed at a 0,4 MW SPP. Photovoltaic modules were mounted on fixed metal structures with a 30 deg. tilt angle. The conversion of direct current to alternating current is carried out using 6 inverters of German production with a capacity of 75 kW each. As experts of “Samruk-Green Energy” LLP note, the new renewable energy facility will contribute to the growth of "clean" electricity generation and the development of renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan.
In general, “Samruk-Energy” JSC implemented two RE projects: a 2 MW solar power plant in Kapshagay c.(Samruk-Green Energy, LLP) and a 45 MW wind farm in Ereymentau c. (FWPP, LLP). The largest Kazakhstani power holding company is currently building another renewable energy facility in power-hungry southern region of Kazakhstan. We are talking about the project "Construction of a 60 MW wind power plant in Shelek corridor including a possible increase in capacity up to 300 MW". According to the results of 2018, “Samruk-Energy” JSC share in the electricity production market amounted to about 30%.
“Samruk-Green Energy” LLP is a subsidiary of “Samruk-Energy” JSC, established on January 25, 2012 for the implementation of RE projects.
“Samruk-Energy” JSC is the largest power holding company in Kazakhstan, 100% owned by “Samruk-Kazyna” SWF JSC. It was established in 2007. Core business: electricity and heat production; transmission, distribution and sale of electricity, power coal mining. The holding company comprises energy and coal enterprises, including “Ekibastuz SDPP-1” LLP, “Ekibastuz SDPP-2 Plant” JSC, “Bogatyr Komir” LLP, “Almaty Power Plants” JSC, “Moynak Hydropower Plant named after U.D. Kantayev” JSC, “Shardarinsk HPP” JSC, etc.
