Power engineers supported machine builders of Kazakhstan

Samruk-Energy, the largest Kazakhstani power holding company, supports domestic producers through offtake agreements. This was told at the VII Forum of Mechanical Engineers of Kazakhstan held in Nur-Sultan.

The new approaches to the development of manufacturers in the machine-building sector were discussed during one of the panel sessions of the forum, where Darkhan Sagindykov, Managing Director for Procurements of “Samruk-Energy” JSC, as part of procurements of “Samruk-Kazyna” SWF” JSC, shared the results of the work of the Local project office for import substitution. The purpose of the Office is to search for domestic suppliers who are interested in creating new manufacturing facilities for the subsequent conclusion of long-term off-take agreements. To date, Samruk-Energy have already signed 2 such agreements. The conclusion of another 3 off-take agreements is expected in the near future, including the conclusion of over 400 mln.KZT agreement with “Asia Traffo” LLP.

Support for domestic producers, including companies of machine-building industry, is one of Samruk-Energy's priority directions of work in terms of ensuring the reliability of electricity and coal supplies in the country. Procurement of organizations that are part of the holding’s group of companies is an efficient tool to support domestic suppliers.

One of the examples of an effective partnership is conclusion of a long-term contract between “Samruk-Energy” JSC and “Saiman Corporation” LLP, a Kazakhstani company, which is related to the implementation of ASCAPC program at “Alatau Zharyk Company” JSC. The contract worth more than 3 bln. KZT. As part of this deal, the company, Samruk-Energy member, will retrofit an automated system that provides remote collection of information from specially equipped metering devices.

According to Darkhan Sagindykov, the energy holding company annually raises the share of local content. For instance, in 2017, the share of local content with respect to goods purchased by Samruk-Energy amounted to 75%, in 2018 this figure has increased to 83%. In general, as the company’s representative noted, today compared with 2018, there has been a slight increase in purchases by 8, 9%, resulted from an increase in output and an increase in prices for certain types of goods, works and services.

Along with that, engineering companies receive support as part of category procurement. Spare parts for special equipment and rolling stock for a total amount of over 170 mln.KZT were purchased from the “MehLitKom” enterprise, which is part of Machine builders Union of Kazakhstan.
