“SWF “Samruk-Kazyna” JSC competence center for the management of procurement categories represented by the authorized body – “Samruk-Kazyna Contract” LLP held a competition on category procurement management among specialists of the Fund companies. Employees of five companies – “Samruk-Energy” JSC, “KEGOC” JSC, “Kazpost” JSC, “KazMunayGas” NC JSC and “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy” JSC took part in the contest.
The purpose of the event is to assess the development progress of procurement category strategies at the Fund's group of companies. The competition included 4 nominations for implemented strategies, such as “Leader of Category Procurement Management”, “Economic Efficiency of Procurement Strategies”, etc., as well as 2 nominations among participants, where the winners of ranks “Category Procurement Professional” and “For Contribution to development of category procurements" were chosen.
“Samruk-Energy” JSC projects such as “Transportation of coal” and “Oils and lubricants” were presented by specialists Rauan Botabekov and Daulet Smagulov at the event. According to the results of the voting, the procurement category group of “Samruk-Energy” JSC with its strategy “Oils and Lubricants” won in the nomination “The Best project on modernization of business processes in procurements”.
«“Category procurement management allowed “Samruk-Energy” JSC to reduce costs, streamline consumption by applying the total cost of ownership of goods, work and services, including coal transportation, spare parts, industrial chemistry, etc. Holding such contests give an impetus to introduction and development of processes of category management of procurements, encourages the raising of competence among specialists. For example, an economic effect of 3, 4 bln. tenge is expected to be achieved at the energy holding company by the end of 2022 owing to reducing the total cost of ownership,”», noted Zhanat Utegenova, Director of Price Monitoring and Category Management Department and the project manager at “Samruk-Energy” JSC.

The winners of the competition received memorable statuettes, diplomas and gift certificates for participating in educational workshops. The event was held on the basis of the Bureau for Continuing Professional Development under Astana International Financial Center with the support of Neirostorm Branch AIFC and GBQ Asia.
