“Samruk-Kazyna” Sovereign Wealth Fund” JSC continues to implement “Zhenіs”, the republican charity project.
Honoring veterans of the Great Patriotic War and homefront workers on the eve of Victory Day is “Samruk-Energy” JSC annual tradition. A charity fundraising for honoring veterans residing in Nur-Sultan city was arranged at the power holding company’s head office with the support of “Nur Otan” party group.
Employees of “Samruk-Energy” JSC met with participants of the Great Patriotic War, homefront workers and members of their families in the framework of “Zhenis”, “Samruk-Kazyna” JSC group of companies’ charity project.
Baktybai Almabekov, a 94-year-old war veteran from Almaty region. He was called up to the military service in spring of 1943, he served in the Far East. When the Soviet-Japanese war began in 1945, he took part in hostilities in the area of the Great Khingan Mountains in Manchuria (northeast China).
Baktybai Almabekov’s platoon being a part of a regiment participated in the capture of the fortress ZheKhe, which was considered unattackable. The enemy was defeated, and the captured Japanese soldiers were quickly withdrawn from the front line. In memory of this event, a young soldier took a picture with a front-line friend and signed the photo: “Greetings from ZheKhe. See you soon”
Baktybai Almabekov was demobilized only in 1950. For military service, he was awarded the medal "For the Victory over Japan", the IInd degree Order of the Patriotic War.
He got married to his spouse in 1956. With Bazken Almabekova they brought up three sons, two daughters. They have 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Employees of “Samruk-Energy” JSC and “Samruk-Energy” JSC local trade union provided the veteran’s family with financial assistance and presented gifts. A woman is 84 years old. During the war years, she, like hundreds of other children, worked in the field with adults. Zhamal Kalinova recalls how they collected the spikelets and grains of wheat. The family sewed mittens and socks, which were sent to the Soviet soldiers’ front.
The veteran’s family was provided with material assistance and gifts were presented on behalf of “Samruk-Energy” JSC employees, “Samruk-Energy” local trade union, Zhamal Kalinova thanked for the help and attention and gave her “bata” – blessings to power engineers.
“Samruk-Energy” JSC employees, the chairman of “Samruk-Energy” local trade union congratulated the aqsaqal (the elder) on the Victory Day and provided him with financial aid, and also handed a much-needed hearing aid. The labor veteran was touched by the attention, and gave his “bata” - blessings.
Zhibek Zhanarbaeva – homefront worker. She was born in Western Kazakhstan region in 1935 in the family of a teacher. She was awarded the medal "Veteran of Labor", jubilee medals of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The woman has the signs of the mother-heroine "Kumis Alqa" and the Medal of Motherhood. Together with the spouse they brought up 6 children, has twelve grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.
The home front worker was provided with financial assistance and presented gifts on behalf of “Samruk-Energy” JSC employees and “Samruk-Energy” JSC local trade union. Zhibek azhe (grandmother) also thanked for the help and attention and gave her blessings to power engineers.
"Zhenis" charity project is aimed at honoring the living veterans of the Second World War. National companies, public organizations, active youth volunteers and employees of “Samruk-Kazyna” JSC group of companies implement the project. Veterans all across Kazakhstan are provided with assistance in the honor of the Victory Day.
