“Samruk-Energy” JSC exceeded the target for electricity production and coal extraction for 2018

“Samruk-Energy” JSC fully fulfilled requests of Kazakhstani consumers in electricity and thermal coal for 2018. By December 10 this year, generating companies that are part of the structure of the largest Kazakhstan power holding company 100% fulfilled annual plans for the generation of electricity. We are talking about “Ekibastuz SDPP-1 named after B.Nurzhanov” LLP, “Almaty Power Plants” JSC, “Shardarinsk HPP” JSC, “Moynak HPP named after  U.Kantaev” JSC, “Ekibastuz SDPP-2" JSC.

As of December 27, energy-producing organizations of “Samruk-Energy” JSC have produced 31,25 billion kWh of electricity since the beginning of the year with planned 31.19 billion kWh. This figure is 4 billion kWh (or 15%) more than in the same period of 2017. At year-end, “Samruk-Energy” JSC plans to generate 31.7 billion kWh, which will be about 30% of the total electricity generation in Kazakhstan.

44.5 million tons of coal have been shipped from the coalmines of Bogatyr Komir LLP in Ekibastuz since the beginning of the year, with planned 40.7 million tons (including exports amounted to 9.4 million tons). This figure is 4.3 million tons of coal more than in 2017.

Household coal (HC) is also shipped in a planned manner in accordance with the applications of consumers. The annual plan for CH for 2018 is 1 million tons and it was executed on September 25. As of 12.27.2018, 1.51 million tons of household coal, or 151% of the annual plan, was sold. We are talking about small boiler houses in rural areas for which Ekibastuz coal is a passport fuel.

Today, the country's largest energy holding is preparing for new rules in the electricity market for energy producing organizations (EPO). As is known, in order to reduce the deterioration level of generating equipment, a capacity market will be introduced from January 1, 2019 in Kazakhstan. It will ensure the construction of new, retrofit and reconstruction of existing energy companies.

First Centralized trades of capacity for Northern and Southern zones of the Unified Power System (UPS) of the republic were held in Kazakhstan in December 2018.  Trades took place at the site of Kazakhstani power market operator, where the country's EPOs took part, including 5 main generating companies of “Samruk-Energy” JSC: “Ekibastuz SDPP-1” LLP, “Ekibastuz SDPP-2 Plant” JSC, “Shardarinsk HPP" JSC, "Moynak HPP named after U.D. Kantaeva” and “Almaty Power Plants” JSC. According to the results, the total volume of power sold by “Samruk-Energy” JSC EPO in the Northern and Southern zones of the UES of Kazakhstan amounted to 2 148,7 MW with a potential capacity of about 4 800 MW.

According to Samruk-Energy specialists, in general, all market participants will receive a transparent mechanism for financing the construction and retrofit of energy facilities. At the same time, payment from the SFC to Samruk-Energy enterprises will be effected at ceiling tariff for the service for maintaining the availability of capacity - 590 thous. tenge / MW * month.
