The Head of Corporate center for mediation and negotiation process of the Corporate Fund “Social partnership center” Zhanar Usipbekova spoke about the main directions and priorities of transformation aimed at improving financial and operating performance.
Transformation Program is implemented in pilot mode in the Fund and three portfolio companies since October 2014. Transformation Program will be launched in Samruk-Energy in May 2015.
Chairman of the Board Almasadam Satkaliyev reported on the results of Samruk-Energy in 2014 and objectives for 2015. According to the report the key indicators of activity established by the Development plan are reached. Total revenues of the company during the reporting period exceeded 252.5 billion, which is 77% higher than actual income in 2013 (142.9 billion tenge). Consolidated total income for the reporting period amounted to 15.9 billion tenge, which is 75% higher than it was planned.
Satkaliyev noted the need to start the implementation of promising investment projects with a high degree of readiness. Among them, the construction of wind farms a wind power station in Shelek corridor capacity of 60 MW with the prospect of expansion to 300 MW to develop energy potential Sheleksky region (construction of 31 hydroelectric power stations on the Shelek river with total capacity of 339.6 MW), wind power plants (351 MW) in partnership with the Chinese KMKVHE.
Activity priorities for 2015 are implementation of the production and investment program, promotion to new markets, and improvment the efficiency of the power enterprises. Achieving these goals will create the necessary basis for ensuring the interests of the State and of the sole shareholder.
In addition, the results of the implementation of programs of social and corporate responsibility were presented at the meeting. Director of the Department of Human Resource Management Madina Aisarieva stressed that measures to improve the social well-being are designed to support all categories of workers, especially production personnel, who makes 67.2% of the total number of employees. The Center for Social Partnership and Corporate University "Samruk-Kazyna" conducted appropriate studies to determine the assessment of social well-being of the personnel in Q3 2014. The studies determined the ranking of social stability in the Group of the Fund’s Companies’: positive trend - from 63% in 2013 to 69% in 2014. The index of engagement also has a positive growth from 63% in 2013 to 65% in 2014.This indicator shows the degree of satisfaction with working conditions of the administrative and managerial personnel and professional and career prospects.
There is a tendency to strengthen the social partnership in the Group of the Fund’s Companies. So, today 16 labor union organizations work in the Group of the Fund’s Companies, which members make more than 80% of employees. 13 collective agreements were concluded.
Under the terms of collective agreements, social welfare payments increased by 25% in 2014 in the Group of the Fund’s Companies in comparison with the same period of 2013.
As part of the implementation of the President's State of the Nation address "Kazakhstan-2050" and "Mangіlіk el" Samruk-Energy employed 182 persons with disabilities in 2014. The program for granting loans to young workers on acquisition of housing is being implemented in order to improve living conditions of employees of Bogatyr Coal LLP .
The Company promotes and supports a healthy lifestyle among its employees and their families. Every year Samruk-Energy together with labor union organisations conduct mass sports and active leisure activities for employees.
Thus, in September 2014 the Public Association "Federation of labor union organization of energy workers" held in Astana II Spartakiad among workers of the Group of the Fund’s Companies, which brought together more than 300 participants consisting of 14 teams. By the end of the Spartakiad the team of Samruk-Energy participated in the 2nd Spartakiad of "Samruk-Kazyna" and won an honorable third place among 17 teams.
The Institute of mediators has been established, whose members at the end of 2014 amounted to more than 300 people, 8 of whom received certificates of corporate mediators.
The Group of the Fund’s Companies is interested in the constant growth of qualification of employees, invests in training employees at all levels in the training centers, as well as in the external education institutions.
In 2014 an assessment of candidates in the Personnel reserve of the number of employees is done by SHLgroup. Board of Directors and the Board approved the Succession plan for key positions.
Over 40% of the staff have experience in the industry for over 10 years, which characterizes the stability of the staffing industry. To promote the continuity of generations and popularization of the profession of energy workers Samruk-Energy honored 11 labor dynasties in Astana in May last year, whose total experience has been estimated from 100 to 160 years.
As part of the reform and modernization of technical and vocational education on the basis of Bogatyr Coal LLP and Almaty Power Stations JSC on a constant base introduced a dual system of education. In 2014 the first group of electricians for maintenance and repair of equipment finished the State enterprise “Ekibastuz professional lyceum №18”: 5 of the 17 graduates are employed by Bogatyr Coal LLP.
Thus, the Group of the Fund’s Companies shows the positive prospects in the company and its subsidiaries. The company's management notes that measures to promote the sustainable development of Samruk-Energy will have a positive impact on attracting investment in the energy sector, and prove the status of the leading participant in the generation sector, electricity distribution and coal mining.
