“Samruk-Energy” JSC operating income increased by 33% in the 1st quarter

Following the results of I quarter of 2018, “Samruk-Energy” JSC operating profit increased up to 17.7 bn.KZT, which is 33% higher than the same indicator of the previous year. EBITDA for the reporting period amounted to 29.7 bn. KZT, having increased by 20% or 4.9 bn. KZT.  According to current data, the total profit is estimated at 13.4 bn. KZT

Samruk-Energy's financial performance has improved owing to the optimal utilization of production capacities, increased production and sales of electricity including export supplies.

Income for January-March of this year exceeded 73.6 bn.KZT, however, the leading energy producing organizations - ESDPP-1 and ESDPP-2 sell electricity in a competitive environment at prices below the established ceiling tariff.

9 billion kWh of electricity was produced in the reporting period, which is 23% higher than last year’s level. The volume of exports to Russia increased by 84% and amounted to 1.627 bn. kWh. Coal production reached 11.7mln. tons, which is 16% higher than the same period in 2017. Actual output and sales of heat remained within the planned values.

"Samruk-Energy" JSC is the largest power holding company, “Samruk-Kazyna” SWF” JSC holds 100% of shares. The installed capacity of power plants is 6.8 gigawatts or 31% of the total capacity of UES. Following the results of 2017, “Samruk-Energy” JSC share in power generation sector has increased from 24% to 28% with a total output of 28,6 bn. kWh. The Group enterprises ensured the production of every third kWh of green electricity in Kazakhstan last year.
