The tools of management’s influence on the improvement and promotion of occupational safety culture in companies were considered by top managers of “Samruk-Energy” JSC at special trainings for company leaders. The purpose of the training activities is to improve occupational safety and environmental protection management system through the enhancement of safety culture, leadership of senior executives and staff involvement.
The Board of executive directors of the energy holding company together with the coaches reviewed and discussed tools and methods for effective implementation of strategies, risk management and sustainable results. According to experts, practice shows that the personal example and involvement of the company CEOs can be the key to a high culture of safe work.
Conducting trainings is one of the stages of SKE.06 project "Introduction of the new integrated security model" implemented at "Samruk-Energy" JSC. It has been included in Business Transformation Program, whereby it is planned to improve the culture of occupational safety and risk management.
It should be noted that workplace injuries rate reduced by 47% at “Samruk-Energy” JSC group of companies in 2017. To prevent accidents, the Company regularly organizes training events for CEOs and persons in charge of OHS management system of “Samruk-Energy” JSC subsidiaries and affiliates. Four audits for compliance with management systems in the area of occupational health and safety of SA were conducted together with international companies. 3 executives, 5 first deputy CEO for production and 2 chief occupational health and safety officers completed training in 2017 at the companies that are the part of energy holding company.
