After considering the results of open two-stage tenders,” Samruk-Energy” JSC completed activities on selling “East Kazakhstan Regional Energy Company“ JSC (EK REC) and “Mangistau Distribution Power Grid Company” JSC (MDPGC) in a competitive environment.
The sale of power grid companies will allow improving the structure of energy holding company and focusing on “Samruk-Energy” JSC operations in key business directions such as conventional generation, RES and coal production – noted Kairat Maksutov, Managing Director for Economy and Finance.
According to the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan No. 1141 dated December 30, 2015 "On Some matters of privatization for 2016-2020", “Samruk-Energy” JSC sold 100% of “EK REC” JSC shares and 78.64% or 1580 467 of ordinary shares of "MDGPC" JSC.
In 2017, “Samruk-Energy” JSC group enterprises produced 28% of electricity, about 40% of thermal coal production and 1/3 of “green” energy generation in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
