A Roundtable on "Future energy - the prospects for global energy development" was held on April 26, 2017 in Astana city at the initiative of “Samruk-Energy” JSC.
The round table is dedicated to preparations for the forthcoming World Scientific and Engineering Congress "Future Energy: Innovative Scenarios and Methods of Their Implementation" WSEC-2017 to be held in June (hereinafter – the Congress), which is one of the key events of the International Exhibition EXPO-2017.
The latest trends in today’s power industry, the prospects for Kazakhstan's transition to low-carbon development were discussed as well as ideas and topics of the forthcoming Congress were tested during the Round table.
Participants of the event are representatives of the Kazakhstan Academy of Natural Sciences, the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the REC "Green Academy", “KEGOC” JSC, “Nazarbayev University”.
Zhumagulov B.T., Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the World Congress WSEC 2017, Academician and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan National Engineering Academy, Satkaliyev A.M., the co-head of Block 2, the Chairman of the Board of "Samruk-Energy" JSC delivered welcome speeches to participants of the event. The Speakers were: Yessekina B.K., Director of "Green Academy" Scientific and Educational Center, Sergey Katyshev, Chief Business Transformation Director, Adviser to the Chairman of the Board of “KEGOC” JSC and other prominent scientists, power engineers, business representatives.
Moreover, the presentation of a book written by well-known Kazakhstani scientists - "The Strategy of the Republic of Kazakhstan’s transition to Low-Carbon Development in the Context of Globalization: Potential, Priorities and Implementation Mechanisms" was held.
Recommendations based on the Round Table results for further preparation for WSEC-2017 were developed and adopted.
