A number of visits to town-forming enterprises for labor veterans were arranged at the initiative of Ekibastuz city mayor Kairat Nukenov. Ekibastuz GRES-1 is among them.
Ryskan Svambayev, Director General of GRES-1 told the delegation about the establishment history and large-scale investment program of modernization and rehabilitation of the plant’s all power equipment, the design capacity of which is 4000 MW. During 2010 to 2014, as part of the modernization and rehabilitation program, electrostatic precipitators were installed at third to seventh power units and power units No.2 and No.8 were rehabilitated and upgraded. In the machine hall veterans got acquainted with operation of new boiler and turbine equipment, visited the site of power unit No.1 and power unit No.2 commissioned in 2014.
Veterans visited CWT unit, where the project on reconstruction of chemical water treatment system was implemented. As part of the project the transition from the ion-exchange method to membrane technology was effected with the application of reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration and electrodeionization. Ekibastuz GRES-1 was the first on the territory of Kazakhstan that implemented these technologies in 2014. Performance of the project equipment is up to 400t/ h.
The head of Ekibastuz GRES informed the guests that OSG- 500 is currently being modernized at the plant, the works are nearing completion, the facility is scheduled to be commissioned by the end of the year, dismantling operations are carried out and the delivery of new equipment at the power unit №1 is underway. Recovery of the unit will be completed in 2017.
