An annual report meeting of the management and personnel on the results of activity in 2014 and tasks for 2015 was held in "Samruk-Energy" JSC

Nowadays the implementation of transformation program is relevant both for “Samruk-Kazyna” Fund (hereinafter – the Fund) and for the whole Group of Companies of the Fund.

Nowadays the implementation of transformation program is relevant both for “Samruk-Kazyna” Fund (hereinafter – the Fund) and for the whole Group of Companies of the Fund. The Head of Corporate center for mediation and negotiation process of the Corporate Fund “Social partnership center” Zhanar Usipbekova spoke about the main directions and priorities of transformation aimed at improving financial and operating performance.

As is known, the transformation program is implemented in the Fund and in three portfolio companies from October 2014. The program will be launched in “Samruk-Energy” JSC in May 2015.

The Chairman of the Board Almasadam Satkaliyev addressed the staff on Samruk-Energy results in 2014 and tasks for 2015. Key performance indicators established by the development plan were achieved. Total revenues of the company during the reporting period exceeded 252,5 billion tenge, this is 77% higher than actual income for 2013 (142,9 billion tenge). Consolidated total profit for the reporting period amounted to 15,9 billion tenge, which is 75% above the plan.

Satkaliyev noted the need to start the implementation of promising investment projects with a high degree of readiness. Among them, the construction of 60 MW wind farms in Shelek corridor with the prospect of expanding to 300 MW, projects on development of energy potential of Shelek region (construction of 31 hydroelectric power plants on Shelek river with total installed capacity of 339,6 MW), wind power plants (351 MW) in partnership with Chinese CIWEC .

The implementation of production and investment programs, expansion into new markets, and improving the efficiency of power utilities are among the priorities set for 2015 at work. Achieving these goals will create the necessary groundwork to ensure the interests of the state and the sole shareholder.

The results of social and corporate responsibility programs’ implementation were also presented at the meeting. Director of Human Resource Management Department Madina Aisariyeva stressed that the measures aimed at improvement of social well-being are designed to support all categories of employees, and above all production personnel, which accounts for 67,2% of the total number of employees of the group. To determine the evaluation of social well-being of the personnel in the III quarter of 2014, the Center for Social Partnership and Corporate University "Samruk-Kazyna" JSC conducted appropriate studies that determined the ranking of social stability of the Company’s group in a positive trend from 63% in 2013 to 69% in 2014 year. The degree of satisfaction with working conditions and career prospects of administrative and management personnel is evidenced by the index of engagement which also has a positive growth from 63% in 2013 to 65% in 2014.

A tendency to strengthen the social partnership can be observed in the Company’s group. So

16 trade unions operates nowadays, the members of which are more than 80% of employees of the Company group; 13 collective agreements were concluded.

According to the terms of collective agreements, the Company group’s social payments in 2014 have increased by 25% in comparison with the same period in 2013.

In the framework of implementation of provisions of the President's address to Kazakh nation "Kazakhstan-2050": "Mangilik El" (eternal nation), in 2014 Samruk-Energy JSC group employed 182 persons with disabilities. To improve living conditions and employ people to “Bogatyr Komir", a program on provision of loans to young employees to purchase housing is implemented.

The Company widely promotes and supports a healthy lifestyle for employees and their families. Mass sports competitions and active leisure activities for employees are held every year together with trade unions of “Samruk-Energy" JSC group of companies.

Thus, in September 2014 Public Association "Federation of Trade Unions of Power engineers" held 2nd sports and athletic competitions in Astana among employees of “Samruk-Energy” JSC group, which was attended by more than 300 participants consisting of 14 teams. Following the results of competition “Samruk-Energy” JSC team participated in the 2nd sports and athletic competition of "Samruk-Kazyna" JSC and won an honorable third place among 17 teams.

Institute of mediators was established, whose number at the end of 2014 reached more than 300 people, 8 of whom received certificates of corporate mediators.

The Company is interested in the constant development of employees’ skills, invests significant amount of funds in training of employees at all levels, which is held at training centers, as well as engages external providers - education institutions.

In 2014, an assessment of candidates to the personnel reserve from employees of the head office was carried out with SHL Group Company. Board of Directors and the Management Board approved the succession plan for key positions.

Over 40% of the staff has experience in the industry for over 10 years; this demonstrates the stability of the staffing of the industry. To promote the continuity of generations and electrical engineer occupation, in May of the last year Samruk-Energy honored 11 labor dynasties in Astana, whose work experience dates between 100 and 160 years.

A dual system of education is introduced at the facilities of "Bogatyr Komir" LLP and "Almaty Power plants" JSC as part of the reformation and renewal of technical and vocational education. In 2014, the first group of electricians for maintenance and repair of equipment graduated from SE "Ekibastuz professional lyceum No.18”, where 5 of the 17 graduates are employed to “Bogatyr Komir” LLP.

This way the Company describes its own and subsidiaries’ positive development prospects. The company's management notes that measures to promote the sustainable development of Samruk-Energy will have a positive impact on attracting investment in the power sector, and justify the status of a leading participant in generation, electricity distribution and coal mining sector.
