For the time of Almassadam Satkaliyev’s work as the Chairman of the Management Board, “Samruk-Energy” joint-stock company became the leader in power industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Company's share in the electricity production market is about 30%, in the coal market - about 38%. In the generation sector “Samruk-Energy” JSC accounts for 31% of the total installed capacity of the power plants of the Unified Energy System of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
A large-scale program of retrofit and construction of facilities was implemented during this period, which increased the available capacity of power plants by more than 1,500 MW.
The units No. 8 and No. 2, 500 MW each at Ekibastuz SDPP-1 were rehabilitated. To date, 500 MW power unit No. 1 is under restoration.
The construction of a unique high-pressure 300 MW Moynak HPP was completed.
Aktobe CHP was reconstructed, as well as its capacity was increased by 16 MW.
The first 45 MW wind power plant in Kazakhstan was built in Ereymentau city.
The first 2 MW solar power plant in Kazakhstan was built in Kapshagay city.
The share of alternative energy in the generation structure of “Samruk-Energy” JSC has increased more than 3-fold - from 3.8% to 12%.
State-of-the-art electrostatic precipitators were installed at all units of operating power plant. As a result, pollutant emissions have reduced by 20%, including ash emissions - by 57% or 45 thousand tons.
In order to improve operating performance, the implementation of the project for transition to cyclic-and-continuous method of coal mining technology at Bogatyr open-pit coalmine has commenced.
In support of innovative solutions implementation, electricity storage systems were tested at the solar power plant in Kapshagay.
Cooperation on establishing research laboratories was set up with leading higher educational institutions, including Nazarbayev University and Stanford University.
Electricity export to the Russian Federation has been resumed. So, in 2017, exports amounted to 4.7 billion kWh.
Considerable contribution was made to the development and upgrading of Almaty energy complex. Boiler unit No. 8 and a boiler house at Almaty CHP-2 was built, providing households and the Universiade facilities with heat.
The construction of substations with a total transformer capacity of 1120 MVA was completed, which made it possible to create a 220 kV ring and improve the reliability of the Almaty energy complex. The ash and slag removal system at Almaty CHP-2 was reconstructed.
The positive dynamics of “Samruk-Energy” JSC development is also confirmed by financial performance. The company's assets increased almost 3 times - from 322 to 950 billion tenge.
The equity increased more than 1.5 times - from 291.9 to 479.5 billion tenge. The operating profit of the company has increased 3 times - from 10.2 to 32.4 billion tenge. Profitability of operations has increased almost twice - from 19,1% to 35,2%. Labor productivity also increased almost twice - from 10.2 to 19.4 million tenge / person.
In 2015, "Samruk-Energy" JSC became the winner of the Grand Prix of Presidential Prize "Paryz".
In 2016, Ekibastuz SDPP-1 became the winner of the silver prize "Paryz" in the category "Best Collective Agreement".
In 2014, the Concept for the Republic of Kazakhstan Fuel and Energy Sector Development until 2030 aligning the development of the oil and gas, coal, nuclear and power industries into a unified whole, taking into account the world's best practices and the latest world energy development trends, was developed by efforts of “Samruk-Energy” JSC specialists and approved by the Government Decree.
