Technical solutions

  • 4 hydraulic turbines manufactured by Andritz Hydro GmbH with a capacity of 31.5 MW each. Parameters of the turbine: adjustable blade turbine ("Kaplan" with adjustable blades), design head 17.8 m. of water col., design flow  200 m3 / s, rated speed - 115 rpm, number of blades - 5, impeller diameter - 5.3 m

Effect

  • Increase in the installed capacity up to 126 MW
  • Enhancement hydropower plant reliability

  • During construction – 176 persons
  • During operation – 156-158 persons

  • Dismantling and assembly works are underway

Project title

  • Transition to cyclic-continuous technology of mining, transportation, blending and loading of coal on “Bogatyr” mine

Project description

  • The project assumes a step-by-step transition of the "Bogatyr" section to the cyclic-flow technology of coal mining and delivery by conveyor transport to the averaging warehouses with subsequent loading on the surface complex. The need to implement the project is related to the achievement of the depth of mine workings, in which the use of rail transport becomes less effective.

Purpose

  • Introduction of modern technologies for coal extraction and shipment, renewal of fixed assets and increase of production capacity of the Bogatyr mine.

  • 2013 – 2022

  • 215,2 mln. USD

Technical solutions

  • Up-to-date technology of conveyor transport will be used in the project. Main equipment:
  • Main (KLM-01 KLM-02) and connecting (CLS-01 CLS-02) belt conveyors;
  • Main elevating conveyors (LPC-01, LPC-02) (used to transport coal to the level of + 165m);
  • blending and loading machine – drum-type reclaimer;
  • Elevating conveyors KLPP-01, KLPP-02 (used to transport coal from blending warehouse to loading points)

Effect

  • Increase the production capacity of the Bogatyr mine from 32 million to 40 million tons of coal per year.
  • Increase the productivity of the enterprise by 25%.
  • Reducing the production cost of mining 1 ton of coal by 12%.

  • Load transfer from 220/110/10 kV No.131A “Gorny Gigant” SS to 220/110/10 kV No.160A “Ermensay” SS through 110 kV grids followed by dismantling of SS 131A

Project description

  • Load transfer from 220 kV “Gorny Gigant” SS to 220 kV “Ermensay” SS followed by dismantling of 220 kV “Gorny Gigant” SS.

Purpose

  • Emergency situation elimination on 220 kV "Gorny Gigant" SS occurred due to landslide phenomena and sag of soil

Implementation period

  • 2016-2018

  • Expansion of 110 kV gas-insulated switchgear of 220 kV "Ermensay" substation on 4 line fields

  • Diversion of Kensu River’s flow to Bestubinsk water storage reservoir of Moynak HPP

Purpose

  • To increase Moynak HPP’s power generation by 102 mln.kWh

Implementation period

  • 2015 – 2021

  • 2 669,4 mln.tenge

Performance characteristics

  • Diversion of a part of Kensu River’s flow to Bestubinsk reservoir is needed to increase power generation at Moynak hydropower plant. According to water and energy calculations, due to flow diversion the electricity generation at Moynak hydropower plant will increase by:
  • by 83 mln. kWh in years with low water level;
  • by 102 mln. kWh at an average water content;
  • by 150 mln. kWh in years with high water level.

Effect

  • Increase in the annual generation of Moynak HPP by 102 mln. KWh
  • Improvements of opportunities for power regulation for Almaty region.
  • Satisfying the growing demand for electricity in Almaty and Almaty region.
