“Samruk-Energy” JSC signed a number of agreements on development of innovative technologies in the framework of VIII AEF

On May 22, 2015 "Samruk-Energy" JSC signed a number of bilateral documents aimed at development of cooperation in elaborating innovative technologies during VIII Astana Economic Forum

Chairman of the Board of "Samruk-Kazyna"  JSC Umirzak Shukeyev prior to the signing ceremony stressed the importance of these agreements, which have been made possible as a result of "Samruk-Kazyna” Fund visit  to Silicon Valley in California (USA).




- During the meeting we agreed that we will develop several key directions. Together with Stanford University we will look for new ideas and technologies in power industry and with the University of California in Berkeley we will develop a project in biomedicine. The agreement with Primus Power Corporation on the development of electricity storage devices is a new direction in the development of technologies, i.e. startup. We believe that this project can change the market situation in the future "- said Umirzak Shukeyev "Samruk-Kazyna" JSC Chairman of the Board

CEO of Primus Power Corporation Tom Stepien and Chairman of the Board of  "Samruk-Energy" JSC  Almasadam Satkaliyev signed strategic partnership agreement which provides for the implementation of the pilot project followed by the establishment of a joint venture for  production and supply of energy storage systems  EnergyPod®  in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

- We expect that the joint work with the leader in the development of energy storage technologies will promote the development of renewable energy sector and will provide us with opportunities for practical implementation of innovative solutions in power sector " noted Chairman of the Board of " Samruk-Energy" JSC Almasadam Satkaliyev  during the signing ceremony .

Memorandum of Understanding with “Standford University” Research University was signed by Professor Friedrich Prinz (Friedrich Prince, Professor of Stanford University). The document lays the foundation for sustainable and long-term scientific and technical, educational and innovational cooperation.

Memorandum of Understanding between "Samruk-Energy" JSC and the University of California at Berkeley was signed by Professor Daniel Fletcher (Daniel Fletcher, Professor of University of California). In the future, the implementation of the partnership program will promote the development of human capital and increasing the economic performance of "Samruk-Energy" JSC.

image001Tom Stepien, CEO of Primus Power Corporation

 Tom Stepien is the CEO of Primus Power Corporation, a leader in the development of energy storage technologies. He has experience in the field of software, industrial robots and control systems in Applied, Novellus Systems, Draper Laboratory. He holds a bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Currently he is in the industrial advisory board of the MIT Laboratory for the manufacture and production.

 

 

image002Friedrich Prinz, professor at Stanford University

Friedrich Prinz is a professor in the School of Engineering at Stanford University, a professor of Materials science and Engineering, professor of Mechanical Engineering and Senior Fellow at the Precourt Institute of Energy. He also serves as the Director of the Nanoscale prototyping Laboratory at Stanford. He leads the group of doctoral students who are addressing fundamental issues on energy conversion and storage at the nanoscale. Prinz holds a PhD in physics from the University of Vienna in Austria.

Laboratory of Bioengineering, University of California studies molecular fundamentals of cell movements; the laboratory develops new instruments and measuring technologies to quantify cell and molecular mechanics.
