On November 10 the Kazakh-Korean business forum and the meeting of the Kazakh-Korean Business Council (KKBC) was held as part of the official visit of Nursultan Nazarbayev, the Republic of Kazakhstan President to the Republic of Korea
Co-chairs of the Kazakh-Korean Business Council represented by Almassadam Satkaliyev, Chairman of the Board of "Samruk-Energy" JSC and Shin Sang Ho, senior executive vice president of Kolon Group during the opening of the meeting, noted that the meetings held within the framework of the Business Council, witnesses a high the level of interaction between government and business entities of two countries.
The business forum of the Business Council was attended by representatives of more than 350 companies. The matters of privatization, public and private partnership, the upcoming international exhibition “EXPO-2017” in Kazakhstan as well as prospects for the development of green energy were discussed within the sessions of business forum and the meeting of Business Council.
Total of 24 documents related to projects worth 640.2 mln.US dollars were signed during the business forum and Business Council in the following areas: healthcare, information technology, construction, finance, trade, tourism and others.
"Korea being one of the leading innovative economies in the world is a significant player both in the region and in the international arena and is of great interest to the business community of Kazakhstan" – said Almassadam Satkaliyev in his welcome speech to the participants of business forum.
Following the results of works, International financial center "Astana", “Development Bank of Kazakhstan” JSC, "National Agency for Export and Investment “KAZNEX INVEST” JSC, “KazExportGarant” JSC, Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi and others signed a number of Memoranda of Cooperation with South Korean companies.
Today, 465 South Korean and 27 joint ventures in various fields such as production, trade and service, construction, agriculture, consulting and finance, and subsoil use and geological exploration, power, machine building, medicine and light industry operate in Kazakhstan.
